Clicker training and dont piss us off

Its a rainy saturday.. supposed to go shelter for pack walk but we woke up to a heavy downpour..
heard that ericsson pathway was flooded.
waited till 9am but the rain doesnt seems to be stoppingnor getting smaller and so packwalk was cancelled :(
Poor doggies... we really wanted to bring you out, but all the humans are taking turns to fall sick :(

I hope everyone get well soon, and have a healthy year ahead..

Last Last Saturday..

Tui refused to get up even when i drag him on his leash.

We had clicker training with fred at one of the HDB area. Peanut was my partner for the day. Prepared a whole bag of diced hot dog for her.

Peanut was much more nicer to walk as compared to last time. Perhaps because we know what we want to achieve now. And with the guidance from fred and shirley, i managed to stay on track and shirley helped to correct me on points that i didnt realise. We took turns to go up and role play as dog and handler, super funny..We get to do all the stunts that the dogs do to us during pack walk, tugging, jumping, sitting down, shutting down, run here and there and poucing on handler... 

Haha. I ran alot throughout the journey (as reward for peanut as she doesnt take food while walking). I managed to survived the whole session without water as we only had our treat pouch and leash with us, not even handphone ! Almost K.o-ed when i reach shelter.

On sunday was supposingly puopi's last day with us.

Slacked at the shelter as usual and nicole barked at one of indian woman standing at the side, as taught we should bring the dog nearer to the person to see what causes it to bark- was it out of fear or was it because she wants to play (Because when they bark doesnt mean they aggressive).

U see, she can also be an Indian dog. With beautiful eyeliner

As weijie brought her nearer, the woman walked away, and a malay guy abt 20 + made a comment in a stern voice saying: "u better .... dunno wad the dog."

Everyone missed out the middle word. Den he kept walking to and fro and stare at us like he wants to challenge us.

We do understand that not everyone can accept animals or big dogs in public but well, your action and face just pissed 10 of us off hahaha. He walked in the opposite direction shortly after his gf (i assume) came. And.....

One by one we took our dogs and followed him for a good 100 metres i think? I took yenyen and tui. Havent walk the both of them tgt for ages. No harm. We just want to show them that mongrels are not as scary and dangerous as they seem so, dun judge and give us the stare, cause we never owe you nor hurt you nor cause any nuisance to you or the public.

They stopped and "rest" at the toilet area while we walked past them and hang around the area for a good 5-10 mins. And they continue to stay in the outside area of the toilet and look at us.

Wonder will we be stomped. =X

The weather was seriously killing all of us. 

All of us were practising loose leash training. Tried on my bf this time. Awwww he is such a sweet heart.

When he pulls, i stop, he turns back and look at me and walk back nicely to my side.

One thing that we were taught: dont just focus on correcting the dogs, u need to praise them when they are doing right by saying yes! Goodddd~. Its just like managing ur employees to subordinate, people focus too much on mistakes and forget to reward and appreciate the correct things that others have done.

We need to really need to put more attention to this.

On the way back to shelter, tui was walking super nicely beside me on my left. And so i tried using the kiapkiap and kiap him to my bag and i walk.

Eh dun anyhow learn and say i also do it hor. I have ample trust on the dog im handling and my eyes did not leave him throughout the walk. I still have co trol over the leash thou. Just wanna see if he can follow me without me holding on to the leash. When he smell the grass, i jus need to either wait for him or tug myself slightly in the opposite direction and he will go back to the original position without me calling him.

Gave him tons of praises and hugs :))

Actually i already forgot the series of event that happen exactly past few weeks.

The last week of 2012 spent in shelter <3

We went to hdb for twice. Walked to punggol via Harlus and then to pet movers to take wedding pics.

Pictures will tell the stories lah i forgot what to narrate already haha

A nice place to chill in the morning or evening, with your family/ bf/ gf or dogs

Our Actual Christmas At The Shelter

A short post:

The actual Christmas day at the shelter..

I see volunteers from every where carrying trays after trays of good food for the dogs, and it brightens my day :)

Another public holiday spent with the furkids. While the others immersed themselves in party and hangover, a few of us decided to impromptu-ly (got such word meh?) go back to shelter and bring those who didnt get to go out for the party for a short walk.

People who went back are: Yonglin, tricia, richard, me, huiyi and her mum+sis (is tt ur sis? I suppose la hor)

Luckily papa nv throw away the pork knuckle and spring chicken we ordered few days ago and the dogs get to enjoy some good food on this special day.

I Wished I had more of those meat because all of them love it so much they finished within a short span of time.

Little brown dog loves it too. Dont know its name yet and i have an urge to give it another weird name like puopi-.-

The first time i saw it, it was still quite shy and curious, likes to hang around but weary of humans. But this time round it actually came forward and you can touch and sayang it :)

The dogs are a lil cranky that day. Nicole kept barking and irritating jingle, tui chap in too. Then when we wanted to feed old jack, stupid bf of mine when to attack it and bite its butt. Sighhh.

Speak of biting, the most annoying terrorist nicole bite my butt!!!!! So angry.

After a while she succeeded in irritating and it is really hard for me to feed the other dogs i locked her up hahah .

When merman and the others reached we brought them to pet movers :) 

When you see them running about happily and playing, all the efforts to wake up early and spend your christmas there are worth it. 

There was a sharpei behind the fence of pet movers and tui & pack keep gg there to bark at the dog. Could say that the dog is good enough to just ignore their childish acts.

, she was sitting at the bench and when she saw tui and gang ran over (cause the sharpei is behind the place she was resting), her reaction v funny faster standup siam far far. But its really nice to see parents stepping up to come and visit the shelter and see what we are actually doing :) 

In between while richard was feeding treats, tui attacked nicole (so far the first time i see this happening) and nicole was forced on its back. But this girl really kiampa, after she got up and escape she came back and bark at tui. 

He really can do anything to get the food.

Oh ya and richard brought some dried排骨for them to enjoy.. xmas ma.. always eat the same treat like boring..

Stayed till abt 1 plus and we headed back. Otw back huiyi's mama even tried to walk yenyen. 

Settled them down and nicole gt swear by tui again, her back got a small wound think was bitten by tui back at pet movers.. the bangala call us to lock up all the dogs as he is gg to bring 2 new dogs in -.- wah lao now we become bangala's helper wts. We locked most of them except for goldie angel and the little brown dog, den the bangala give a very piss off face as he need to lock them himself , wah lao we help to lock so many v gd alr lor... zzz. 

Helped him to hold on to the brown dog using leash and it froze to the ground. Good way to observe its reaction and calming signals hahahahaha! 

Poor retrievers, need to spend their xmas and perhaps new year in such a sad and cockup environment. I really dont think its good to put your pet boarding in shelter environment. Imagi e it once had the freedom to roan the whole house, smell the fresh grass and comfort of aircon and bed, now it is left with 4 walls - still must share with its roommate, constant barking and screaming from unbalance dogs, sleeping on cold tile floor. Zzzz ..

Think twice before you go overseas or decided u cant keep your pet anymore..
