Our shelter dogs: ITE Boys

Have you heard of the ITE boys?
If you have not, pls click on the link below to watch their video. Video was created by Minghui ;)

Theres another link in youtube done by tuckwah
(sosd's chairman)

If you are to lazy or unable to watch, i shall explain to you:

These 2 boys were found in Yishun Ite last year/ early this year (I cant really rmb) and the management called Ava to catch the dogs.
Videos and pictures of the way the boys were captured were circulating all over the internet, especially STOMP.

Its really quite heartaching to see how they were rounded, dragged, struggled and dumped into the van with a loud thud- Muddie was the unlucky one..

Aiya, picture says a thousand words, you should find ways to watch the video in order to feel it.

When I watch the clips on STOMP initially, never had I thought I would have the chance to see and interact with these 2 boys, and Im glad I did.

Ok, back to story.. While authorities find that the both of them are deemed aggressive and scheduled to be put to sleep, their saviour appeared.

SOSD took them in and a kind hearted lady Jac (who is now our regular volunteer :P) volunteered to rehab and help them.

Meet the ITE BOYS :
MUDDIE & HANDSOME

The following months comes with lots of patience and sweat for them to build trust in human again.

I remember seeing how muddie flip like a fish (exactly like what he did when he was caught) when we tried to leash and walk him.

Slowly but surely and with the help of FOOD AND TREATS (those are great tools to 骗 dogs that are greedy) the both of them slowly opened up..

MUDDIE
- Medium size with floppy ears
- Black coat (becoming choco brown now)
- Can flip like a fish
- Very shameless now
- Knows how to pose for nice angle thus the extensive no.of photos
Trying to act pitiful uh
- Super greedy
- was afraid of swimming initially but after intense swimming by cesar soo, he finally overcome his fear and swim like a duck
Our Ah beng teaching Muddie to swim and correcting my boy friend (on the left) most prob bcos he growl at my 2nd and 3rd bf
- Opposite to Momo, muddie is like a sunshine, always smiling, and trying to act cute
- He managed to walk across the obstacle course bridge because he wanted to eat the treats that Ning ad Jac were holding

- There's once back in the shelter, Muddie was greeting us eagerly behind the kennel and We found shit on his head. LITERALLY. We've got no idea how and where the shit comes from, but its very funny.
- He is one lucky fella to get fostered by our loving Vivien. Thats like the best thing that can happen to him for now.
Cause we are so sure that He will be in good hands. <3

HANDSOME
- Same size as muddie, but a more handsome face.
- He got that coolcool and quiet look
 Shuai ma?
- brownish black coat with distinctive rottweilier markings (two dot on his forehead)
- more timid and took a longer time to open up
- but once he is in the dog park... *ding ding ding* Tail's up!

- He managed to 放电 to peanut and now she is gaga over him.
- Very very sticky to Muddie.
When we are going for pack walk, he will whine and whine when muddie is out of sight. And will always try to catch up with Mud:
- He too was afraid of waters initially..

But he was too sticky to mud he decided to just go into the pool (all by himself!) just to catch up with his brother. And he did a total of like 5 rounds. Argh. i will try to upload the video here.. You've got to see it forr yourselves!

- Handsome was luckier than Muddie by a abit because he went to foster home 2 weeks before Muddie. And his foster family loves him so.

These wonderful pics are taken by no friend lynn

Look at how focused they are.. with Tricia

Such wonderful love:)

Remember, If we humans are willing to give them a chance to live, they will show you how they can transform and become wonderful companions.
Muddie and buddie are real-life examples.

Hope their story will touch your heart and have a great day/night!

Our Shelter Dogs: The Forgotten Ones

Often than not, these few mutts here are prone to be forgotten by us as they are way toooooo quiet and shy.

Nevertheless, they played a significant role in our shelter lives.

Meet JINGLE the shy girl and MOMO the emo dog

JINGLE

- A Small to medium size brown mongrel
- Floppy ears and small body frame
- Loves to jump on you together with the naughty ones when you just entered the kennel but once you start noticing her and walk towards her, she will run away to hide and will stay inside forever (so kiampa)
- Have not gone out for packwalk before due to her nature. Hopefully once she has gone through rehab, she can come out of her turtle shell and enjoy the grass, breeze and sea with us
- Through the months, she did change for the better and now she will come to you for food and allow you to pat her at times. Better than nothing right

Too bad lah jingle, no one in the shelter has your photos, so you only got 2 photos of you taken by me. This shows that you are really forgotten by the rest. Fret not, I promise to take more pictures of you okie..

**Edited**
 Always weary of people

MOMO

- Ok, i think her name really suits her Emo character
- A mixture of dark colored patches and floppy ears
- Always had a bright yellow collar round her neck, contrasting from her dark coloured fur
- She may not be the best looking dog in the kennels, or some might deemed her to be ugly. Well, I cant deny that fact Lol.
Look at her compared to the others
- Momo always has that worried and sorrowful expression on her face. dont know what is she thinking or she is born with that face :/
- You can take pictures of her on 10 different session and it still ends up like, that:

- Reacts to her name but will choose to ignore you after that
- Snappy. Ya, emo momo isnt very friendly. If you try to touch her, she snaps. Only her rescuer and her little son is able to hug it.
- Fought with Tui on the first try out session. Tui bled, thus a scar on his nose now, as a human, the first conclusion will be 'poor tui, why momo so fierce...' Sorry lor, momo suffered more wounds than Tui >.<
- I tried hand feeding it treats and it will come forward. The only time she had a slight smile on her face :/
All in all, if you give her personal space she will not do anything to you lah. Thats why we tend to forget her existence at times.

Okay, Now for the special guest of this post:

TWINKLE!!

- Black medium size mutt with shiny coat and Floppy ears
- Super duper high energy, i think she is energizer operated
- One of the smartest in the pack
- Learnt how to sit in one/ two sessions thanks to the treats
- Extremely food motivated and will follow you every where you go, when you have food, of course.

- very jumpy, JUMPY AND JUMPY.
- she was one of the luckiest to get adopted by the 3rd or 4th session. Hmmm, should be enjoying her snooze in a cosy bed now

We still have more furry friends waiting to be blogged about! So check back more frequently okie?

Byeee!

Our shelter dogs : The Fat Siblings

Before any of our very few pioneer dogs goes out to foster homes or get adopted, I have to introduce them to you guys here..

This pair of siblings are a few of the calmest and Zen-est dogs in the shelter, meet the FAT SIBLINGS:

TUI AND YENYEN

TUI

- Alpha Male
- Pack leader of block 2
- My boyfriend in shelter
- Big head (which i fall in love with) small ears and fat body
- Walks well on leash, slow and steady
- Can be very manja towards humans, but does not like other dogs to come into its territory or it will growl
- Always get 'beaten' by us (in attempt to correct his behavior) when clearing its throat cause it sounds like growling.
- Has a thick coat of fur like a scarf around its neck
- A great natural swimmer

- His head is big enough to balance many treats

PS: Look at his xiao jiji

- Started out as a dog that cant even recognise his name. Well, he is able to react to his name, sit and hand-hand now.
- He loves food too. So after I taught him to hand-hand, he will keep giving you his paw NON STOP to beg for food
- Drink water like a king where he will just lie down infront of the whole bowl and enjoy the water all by himself

- Fat but good stamina (he survived all our long pack walks without dying)

YENYEN

- Sister of tui
- Alpha Female
- A very sweet and confident young lady
- Has cute pointy ears, small head and Fat body (yes, fat)

YEN: HEH HEH MY BUTT SEXY HOR?
- Walks well on leash, with her butt shaking left right, left right
- She is much alike as tui when shes drinking water (Like a queen)
- Loves to do stunts that amuse us
Yenyen: Arghhh buay tahan, veryyyy itchyyy.. Ahhh, now that i eased the itch
Trying hard to maintain pose despite itching like mad
- Loves rolling on the floor, the grass, the sand, like a dying fish
Rollng in the deep

- Never fails to lie flat on ground when we take water breaks in between our pack walk.
- She is also a great swimmer, just like her brother
- oh ya! and she's a flirtatious girl too.
You should see how she display her affection and flirt with the male dogs in dog run
- She can run, its funny how you see her join the rest of the 'slimmer' dogs to play catching
- She dislike bathing and will always try to play dead and lie on the floor, refusing to move no matter how you flip her.
- She is really one with alot of character

You will be drowned with love being with them. They are good on leash together and swim well together too. Even Ah Pek can walk them without gasping for breath. Love them many many, because their energy level, stamina and size are the closest to me :P

Can I say they are an inseparable pair?

Beg for treats with the same enthusiasm

Posing with the same angle, yen yen look like a mini duplicate of tui

Drink water also must squeeze tgt, so far, Yenyen is the only one who can come so close and share the same drinking bowl with our 大王.

See the way they rest beside each other, so orderly

Waiting to bath tgt, ok I know I really need to shed some weight :/

Yen yen trying hard to keep herself afloat, too fat..

The fat siblings wouldnt be complete if one of them is not around anymore.......

Do come back for more posts on our other furry friends!
Love.
