Responsibility is not just a word

This is a post which I previously blogged about in my secret blog, therefore, I think no one has read it yet :/

I guess not many people are aware of what to do with pets that they are "unable" to take care of anymore.
Having a pet is ur choice and responsibility.
If your pet ever gets pregnant- its also ur responsibility as you did not sterilized it / prevent 'accidents' from happening. When all cannot be helped, you will have to take care of the kids- devote all your time and energy especially during the 1st 1-2 months.
And if u cant keep them anymore, YOU DONT PUT/DUMP THEM AT PASIR RIS FARMYWAY. Indeed there are alot of shelters and animal welfare organisations located in pasir ris, but this is not the way to do it! what makes u think that once u send them down ppl will take in, and when your place can actually still provide a shelter for them (because you gave them up due to stupid reasons)?

Previously when i brought cookie there, it was my last resort and time is pressing so i gotta give it a shot, and i know that the chances of them taking in are low, very low as most of the are operating at full capacity.
[Pls read my Cookie post]

If your pet becomes ill/ kena skin disease/ have agression problems/ no manners/ stupid or dont learn.....
It all lies with the owners. Seriously.
If its ill, its because you did not take (enough) good care of it.
If it contracted skin disease, its due to neglection - and normally ppl will abandon the dog instead of helping to heal it.
If it has aggression problem, its because the owner did not teach him/her the right way nor correct the behaviour, or maybe the owner himself have problems that need to be corrected as well.
As the saying goes, a dog's temperament is a reflection of its owner.
If it has no manners, its because the owner let it 为所欲为,没大没小 (do whatever it wants and shows no respect), all talk no action (I learnt a new term call NATO - No action, talk only), keeps complaining but not stopping / correcting it when things go wrong.

I dont really encourage hitting/beating a dog in order to teach it. Read it some where that it is better to teach a dog the correct things it should do and reward it, rather than beating it when it do something wrong.
*But hor, if the dog is like nicole this type, then its different story because a simple smack on her butt or head is like ant bite to her*
Dogs are different from human, they will not reflect on what they have done wrong if u punish them 5 minutes later. They will give u immediately reaction of how they feel.
Just like when Guinness attack people, he only know he is not happy at the moment and he wants zahid dead, thus he will not stop upon to reason with himself that its not the vollies that he hates and he should not bite us.
Argh, I wish more people will learn the stuffs that I have learnt over these few months.
I know I sound like preaching, and by now no one is reading what im writing here liao..
NEVERMIND.
I will re-read it when i grow older. HURRR.
[The above sentence was typed by me to self console for my 0 traffic blog]

I think the stupidest reason to give up a dog is when a couple breaks up and no one wants the dog anymore.
THIS REASON IS SIBEH LAME AND INVALID!!!!!!!
Dont get it if none of you wants to be responsiblefor it.
So if u get married and have kids, once u divorce u throw your kids at pasir ris farmway?!
Ok, so what you should do when you really cant take in your dog (For whatever reason)?

1. Friends and family members. Look around you and ask, who can help? its better to hand your dog to someone you trust better than giving it to a stranger.
2. Rehome it. Rehoming its not an easy task. Its not just passing your dog to anyone who wants it.
Its helping a dog to find a permanent loving home that can take good care of it. Key word here is SUITABLE.
you have to make sure that the new owners will not abuse it, their home environment is suitable, their character matches with your dog, the amount of their leisure time - whether is it enough to bring the dog out for regular exercise. Whether the family have any crazy children who are effing irritating that will bully the dog den go and cry and complain say the dog bite him/her. You also have to take into consideration your dog's feeling......
3. If you time is pressing and there is not enough time for you to wait till it gets adopted (which will normally take quite sometime), find a fosterer for it. Fosterer helps to look after dogs with special needs for few weeks to few months until it gets adopted. Sometimes, fosterer themselves end up being the adopter as they grow too attached to the dog.
4. Spread on social media network. Take down the specific details of your dogs ( Be genuine, dont cheat)
E.g Breed, age, gender, size, color, temperament, its habits etc. And pray that more ppl will share and be aware of it.
5. Look our for animal welfare groups for help, my help here doesnt mean throwing your dogs to them, but to ask them what you should/could do to help your dog. I believe most of them will be willing to provide you with info or help you share your post.
6. If you cant let your dog stay in your house (e.g if its a mongrel), you have to find a boarding place for it. This is usually a last resort. A family pet might not get use to shelter live, btw a boarding place environment is usually like the shelter i go to. The environment is too harsh for them. Its cramp, it stink, its 4 walls and fence, they stay there 24/7 until you bring them out for a walk, they poop and pee at the same place they slp. Can you bear to do that? AND YOU PAY $200-$400 per mth for that kind of condition. Crap.

So all in all..
Dont dont abandon your dog lar... they are our best buddies and family for life, their lives.
If you really cant commit in having a dog, consider fostering or commit your time to any dog shelters.
You'd get to interact with dogs, of all sizes (if you are looking for pedigree den sorry hor, wrong page), accumulate good karmas and exercise.

Ok byebye.
